Framed artist's proof signed in pencil 'Pat Stapleton '76'. Features an open cupboard with vintage food tins/picnic basket - outbuildings in the background. There is also a vintage 'Innisfallen Sarsaparilla Western Bottling Co. San Francisco' label below the drawing on the matboard. I am not sure of the connection between the drawing and the label - I wonder if it was part of an advertising campaign for Innisfallen Sarsaparilla'. I am only guessing, and could not find the connection in my research.
I am not an art expert, but this drawing appears to be in ink and pencil. The art has an indented edge that is reminscent of an etching or an engraving. The art has been triple matted and framed with a rustic pine frame - slats are 4 3/4" wide. There is some separation of the wood frame at two of the corners, and the frame shows wear/scratches. There is a sturdy hanging wire on the back.
I believe this 'Pat Stapleton' is one Patricia Ann Stapleton who passed away in 2013. She was born in Kansas City, MO, was a graduate of both Central MO State College and University of Columbia with education and MFA degrees. She taught art in various high schools in Missouri and was Professor of Art at Central College in Fayette, MO. She moved to California in the 1980s. We obtained this piece of art in an estate auction located near Fayette, MO.
