Up for sale is a nice lot of 2 vintage knives. Both show some aging and wear. They are marked "Shapleigh's Hammer Forged 1843", and "Shapleigh's Hammer Forged 1843-1934 Old Hickory". The first appears to have lost the Old Hickory from wear. Both blades measure about 6" long and 1" wide. Handles measure 4 1/2" long.
$ 59.94 $ 74.95We are pleased to offer this carved wood, lidded, 4-footed canister with oval pewter 'TE' label. This canister has a white porcelain knob on the lid and features a curvy shape. I believe the wood is maple but I am not positive. It is branded on the bottom 'Enkeboll' as is their quill, ink well and key logo. This piece has primitive or early American style with a distressed finish on the wood and visible nailheads on the pewter label. The spelling of the word 'TE' is also primitive. Without the lid the canister is 9" tall. With the lid in place, it is 11" tall. The canister is 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" at the widest portion (the center). It is well made and sturdy and we believe it is hand made. The internal cavity is square (4 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 7 7/8" tall).
