The Consider H. Willett Furniture Company was located in Louisville, Kentucky. They produced furniture from 1946 - 1962 and, at the time, were the largest manufacturer of solid wood furniture in the United States. Willet was always known as a producer of very high quality furniture. It was manufactured furniture rather than hand-made, but the pieces were always very carefully crafted, and were made of solid hardwoods, most often cherry but sometimes in maple as well. There were no veneers, particle board or any other cheap material even in interior places like drawer pieces. They were also famous for their hand-rubbed finishes, which often gave a glass-like polished, almost three-dimensional transparent depth to the wood. Willet pieces are still highly regarded as well constructed, high quality furniture.
