This piece has primitive or early American style with a distressed finish on the wood and visible nailheads on the pewter label. The spelling of the word 'TE' is also primitive. Without the lid the canister is 9" tall. With the lid in place, it is 11" tall. The canister is 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" at the widest portion (the center). It is well made and sturdy and we believe it is hand made. The internal cavity is square (4 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 7 7/8" tall).

We have for your consideration, a rare collection of six (6), new old stock, 'O.V.B.'(Our Very Best) brand butcher knives in their original store box with OVB label. Each knife is 11 1/2" total length with a blade length of 7 1/8". Each gleeming shiny blade is marked 'Hammer Forged Made in USA OVB Our Very Best Trade Made.' The handles are dark hardwood with three brass rivets. The label on the box has some pencil writing on it and the box base is torn in three corners. These knives were part of the inventory of an old hardware store.

H.S.B. & Co. was a huge hardware dealership that saw great success from its beginning in 1855 through 1962 when it sold its 'True Value' trademark and got out of the hardware business. Some of their other trademarks include O.V.B.(Our Very Best), Hibbard, Cruso, IL-A-NOY, and Lady Hibbard.

Hand blown vintage amethyst glass cruet with diamond facet ground stopper. Panelled sides. The handle is an extension on the back side of the opening (as opposed to being totally made in a separate process and applied). Has a smooth but present pontil. Cruet alone is 5 5/8" tall to the peak of the spout. The cruet and stopper together are 7 3/4" tall. The stopper is quite large, at 3 1/2" long x 1" diameter. The cruet has a seam so it is not hand blown. There is one tiny fleck-chip on the outer surface and one chip on the end of the stopper. Both are pictured. This is a vintage piece, but I am not sure of the exact age.
